Today's guests are Emma Tessler and Hayden Johns, from Ninety Five Media.  I just love these women because they are the power punch to my Pinterest account, ensuring that all pins meet brand standards, push the material I want pushed in order to drive traffic and revenue, and best of all?  They do the heavy lifting of staying on top of Pinterest changes, updates, and what is currently working or not.

There's 5 secrets you HAVE to master in order to pin it to win it.

Optimize Your Profile

  • Your Pinterest profile should be optimized to reflect your brand voice, product/what you offer, and show your personality/brand vibe
  • Customers aren’t just looking to buy your product, they want to buy YOU + the story behind the product!

 How you can do this:

  •  Optimize your bio with key words (this gets your profile in front of the right eyes!)
    • Use high quality photos that reflect you and your brand for your cover photo + profile photo
    • Optimize your Pinterest board covers with titles + brand colors - even incorporate your logo!
  • It’s all about making your profile visually appealing, consistent with your brand and easy to navigate for your viewers!

Create High Value Content

  • Pinterest users are looking for inspiration and ideas, so create high-value content that is visually appealing + valuable. (Something they just have to save for later!)
  • Market Research is showing us that content with 1 portrait size beautiful eye-catching image/video, with optimized text, appropriate branding elements, and clickable links are performing best.
  • Types of pins:
    • Video Content: Repurpose your video content from Instagram, Facebook and TikTok to create engaging pins for your viewers.

Photo/Graphic: Again, you can repurpose content from your other platforms + create beautiful graphics with Canva.  I do recommend the Pro Version for it's versatility!

Keywords Are King

  • Pinterest is a visual search engine - so it’s important to use relevant keywords in your boards, board titles, pins, and descriptions to make it easier for people to find your content + reach a wider audience. This gets your content in front of more eyes + the right eyes.
  • A way you can find optimal keywords for your brand is to actually research popular search terms in your niche, terms relating to your products/offerings + terms your ideal client would search - and include them in your content where they work!
  • Example: Wedding Industry Client - their target audience is the bride searching for: wedding inspo, wedding decor and wedding reception ideas. These are things you want to include in your descriptions in order to help people find you + what you offer faster, easier and with exactly what they’re  looking for.

Pin With Consistency

  • Consistency is key when it comes to Pinterest - We’re talking everyday, multiple times a day. When you pin regularly, your pins are more likely to be seen by users who follow your boards or search for content related to your brand.
  • Pinterest's algorithm also rewards active users with increased visibility in users' feeds and search results. Plus, regular pinning can increase the number of clicks and referrals to your website - which is what you really want!
  • What we recommend: 3 times a day, 90 pins a month
  • Use scheduling tools to make it easier to maintain a consistent pinning schedule.  My team and I use Tailwind to do all of our social media scheduling, and the 95 Media team jumps in there with our Pinterest Pins

Track Your Results

  • Use Pinterest Analytics to track your results and see what's working and what's not. This will help you to optimize your strategy over time and improve your results.
  • Pay attention to metrics like impressions, clicks, and saves, as well as the performance of individual pins and boards.
    • Impressions: the number of times your pins were on screen
    • Outbound Clicks: the number of times viewers tapped the link to go out of Pinterest and to your website
    • Saves: the number of times viewers have repinned your content to their own boards
  • This helps you measure your success, identify trends, and optimize + plan future content!
  • Pinterest analytics are very volatile and finicky - so don’t panic! We look at 30 days, rather than 7 days in order to get a big picture view of analytics.
